Monitor metrics in Google Sheets

Track a spreadsheet column with a simple aggregation, a threshold, and a scheduled alert.

One column becomes one metric

Minimum checks the lowest numeric value in the column. Here, 6 is below 10, so the condition is met. Hidden and filtered rows still count.

A shared spreadsheet can hold the metric your team checks each day. Kisu can read a selected column, calculate a metric, and notify Slack when it meets your condition. You do not need SQL.

Prepare a clear metric column

Put column headers in the first row and numeric values below them. For example, a stock sheet might have Product and Units remaining columns. A Minimum aggregation on Units remaining can help flag a low-stock item.

Each check reads the whole selected column below its header. New rows are included. Hidden and filtered rows are included too, so a filtered view does not limit the alert. Use a dedicated tab or column if you need a specific subset.

Connect the sheet and choose a condition

Sign in and activate a subscription. In Configuration, add a Google Sheets connection with the same Google account. This is separate from sign-in. Kisu reads sheet data; it does not write cells.

  1. Create an alert in Alerts and select your Google Sheets connection.
  2. Click Choose spreadsheet, then choose the sheet tab and Metric column.
  3. Choose Sum, Average, Minimum, or Maximum.
  4. Set the comparison and threshold. For the stock example, use Minimum less than 10.
  5. Choose checks every 12 or 24 hours and a tested Slack destination. Save the alert.

Know which values count

Blank cells and text are ignored, including numbers stored as text. Formula cells use their current calculated values. If there are no numeric values, the result is no data. It does not send a notification or resolve an open incident. Zero is a numeric value.

Currency and percentage cells use their numeric values, not their display strings. For example, 10% is 0.1. Use 0.1 as the threshold if you mean ten percent.

Keep the alert aligned with the sheet

Tabs are tracked by ID, so renaming a tab does not break the read. Columns are tracked by position. Review the alert if you insert, move, or delete columns.

Use History to review results and delivery status. Every successful matching check queues a notification. If low stock persists across several checks, expect repeated notifications until the condition is no longer met.

Put your metric to work

Connect your data and set up a scheduled check. See Pricing for subscription details.
